We are Australia’s only not-for-profit, cooperatively-run music school. Our teachers work together to continuously develop curriculum, specialist studio spaces and resources to support excellence in music teaching practice and to enhance student learning experiences.
We offer our teachers mutual support, a financial safety-net and ongoing opportunities to grow as practitioners. Students who come to our school tend to have meaningful and long-lasting learning relationships, and come to us to experience the Browning Street difference.
Opportunities do exist for teachers to come on board as self-employed practitioners and transition to shareholding-members of the co-operative. This is not an instant job, but rather an investment of time and energy into your teaching practice within a support system built for people like you.
Our co-operative is suited to teachers who already have established practices looking to move out of the home environment, or early-career teachers within the following instrumental specialities (where we are currently experiencing un-met demand):
- Wind and Brass
You can read more about working at our studios here. Please note that we do not generally consider applications from teachers already working from commercial premises in our local area (<5km).

We have a limited number of studios with acoustic pianos available for hire for private practice, for long-term or regular hires only. Note that as our administration is carried out by volunteers, we are no longer in a position to provide short-notice, casual hires.
