Sarah Collyer is a singer, songwriter, performer, voice coach and researcher. She holds a Bachelor of Music with first class honours from James Cook University and a Masters of Music Studies from Griffith University Conservatorium of Music, where she also received the Griffith award for Academic excellence in 2006. In 2018, Sarah completed her PhD in Music at Queensland University of Technology, which culminated in the thesis: Yoga For Singers – A Holistic Practice Tool. Currently, Sarah is in her Honours year of Psychology at Central Queensland University.
On the music front, Sarah has released an EP – This Way (2008) and an Album – Yesterday’s Blues (2012). Both receive nation-wide airplay and are distributed globally. Sarah has toured Australia, Japan and London with her music and performs regularly as an original artist and jazz and blues vocalist. Passionate about education, Sarah has been teaching contemporary voice for over seventeen years. Her teaching approach is grounded in humanistic and holistic philosophy – focused on helping each student realise their full potential. Sarah welcomes students of all levels and ages, and teaches across the full range of contemporary styles: jazz, country, rock, metal and pop, as well as teaching music theory and musicianship. Sarah is particularly enthusiastic about helping singer-songwriters hone their craft and become performance ready.
