First and foremost, Jennifer endeavours to foster a love of musical discovery within her students by encouraging them to both play and listen to a broad range of music. She strives to assist them in unlocking their musical potential through combining equally important elements of correct technique, creativity, theory and aural skills in addition to an appreciation for general knowledge about style and genre from a historical perspective.
Jennifer graduated from her honours year of a BA in music with First Class Honours from UQ in 2014, and is currently in the initial stages of a doctorate degree (undertaking research in musicology). She has over 15 years of experience with both AMEB and ANZCA syllabuses, and has successfully assisted students in preparing for exams from preliminary to grade 8. At present she is preparing to sit her AMusA exam. Jennifer regularly undertakes work as an accompanist and as of 2015 has played in the percussion section of the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra. She has a particular interest in adult education and firmly believes it is never too late to take up music.
Whether playing for fun, leisure and relaxation, or to prepare for exams and auditions, Jennifer is a dedicated, patient and encouraging teacher and would love to help you on the road to achieving your musical goals.
