Claire studied at the Queensland Conservatorium completing both her Bachelor of Music in Performance and Pedagogy and a Diploma of Opera in 2010. In 2011, Claire was a Developing Artist at Opera Queensland. She then studied a Masters of Music in vocal performance at the Guildhall school of music and drama in London, and spent 2 years studying and performing in the UK.
Claire has performed in Master classes with international musicians such as Graham Johnson, Eugene Astid, Yvonne Kenny, Malcolm Martineau, Clive Timms, and Edith Wiens. She has performed in London venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, and LSO St Luke’s. Claire is currently a member of The 7 Sopranos, Australia’s most exciting young vocal group, a high impact classical spectacle combining glamour and intense vocal virtuosity.
Claire has been a private tutor of voice and piano for the past 5 years. Most recently she worked full time teaching voice and piano in schools and at a private studio in the Cayman Islands Musicians Ltd. Claire has much experience preparing students for exams in Trinity Guildhall and ABRSM, as well as AMEB syllabus. Claire has experience teaching students of all ages and many styles of voice including contemporary, pop, jazz, musical theatre as well as classical and opera.
Specializing in Vocal Pedagogy, Claire understands the inner workings of the voice and the tailors her teaching methods to the individual to achieve the best results for her students. Claire understands that every voice is unique, and will help to get the best out of your individual sound. Claire imparts an understanding of the technical aspects such as breathing, support, phonation, articulation, tone, posture, as well as the stylistic elements and performance aspects. This knowledge empowers the student to develop and self-assess to ultimately improve in practice outside the lesson environment.
