Rachel found her passion for music pedagogy at a young age when she was assisting instrumental music teachers in her high school. After she was awarded the Associate Diploma in Music (AMusA) at the age of 15, she has been teaching violin and piano in her home studio. She is currently studying violin at the Queensland Conservatorium with Michelle Walsh.
As an innovative and enthusiastic teacher, she provides enjoyable lessons by engaging students in interesting and wide-ranging activities. Her teaching philosophy is to plant a love of music in each student by being positive and encouraging. Nevertheless, she also focuses on teaching the required discipline and fundamental techniques to nurture them into a better musician.
From preparations for AMEB and ABRSM exams to playing as a hobby, Rachel is experienced with all types of students. She aims to optimise student’s success by designing the lesson to suit each student’s personal goals.
Also, as an active performer, Rachel has performed with a number of nationally recognised orchestras, leading tours to many parts of Australia. She was the finalist of the International Animato Violin Competition and the 1st prize-winner at Eisteddfod Music Competition. She was also appointed as the concertmaster of the String Ensemble at the State Honours Ensemble Program in 2013
